If you read Wait for You, you already know the story and fell in love with Cam and Avery just like I did. I gave Wait for Me only three hearts – mostly because I missed descriptive dialogue, and thought the editing job done by the publisher was less than stellar. But … and that’s a BIG BUT, I have had a change of heart reading the same story from Cam’s POV. I typically do not enjoy retells, but Cam’s POV was so much more entertaining. I loved the seeing the softer side of him, and understanding his life circumstances. In the first installment, its tough to feel too sorry for him because he has SO MUCH going for him. But I felt his vulnerability when he discussed all that he lost and all that he felt when he was arrested for assault. I absolutely loved his pursuit of Avery, and how he refers to her by her nickname “Shortcake” in his head. I would still like to know and understand the secondary characters more. I had trouble knowing WHO Avery was in the first book – because her secondary characters were rarely part of the story. Cam’s amigos seemed to be around all the time, but there is little development of their character, and once again that falls a bit flat. While I missed having more in-depth dialogue between Cam and Avery, Ms. Lynn writes incredibly well. Her descriptive writing is amazing. The scenes are incredibly vivid, and her characters are so believable. J. Lynn/Jennifer Armentrout did a great job giving us the same story again, keeping it fresh and interesting from beginning to end.
