THE BET by Rachel Van Dyken

This story was simple, sweet, and a short quick read. Two brothers, Jake and Travis have had a relationship with Kacey since childhood. While one brother needs her for appearances, the other brother has always loved her. In my humble opinion – this should be a romantic comedy movie. The grandmother is an absolute hoot, but the rest of the characters fight like children. The heroine is a bit wishy-washy, one brother is a stalker, and the other is simply a jerk! It is an interesting love triangle that is better suited to young adults. The storyline flows well though and has a lot of potential, the sex is hot and steamy, but the conversations are a bit juvenile and not what I typically enjoy. I did however, LOVE the childhood flashbacks. I do not normally love flashback writing, but this was a real treat. Overall, a nice quick read where friends become lovers. And I “bet” you could devour it all in just one lazy afternoon!
