MY HEART LOVES A HAPPY ENDING!!
This is the story of Ember and Trace. Ember moves to New York to become a writer. She works as a waitress in a very high end restaurant, and also gets some work as a journalist. Ember meets Trace – a hot, tattooed fighter, when he saves her from some creepy guy. They have an attraction. She follows him around – that’s weird. He’s always around – ready to save her day, also weird. I’ve written this many times – I’m a fan of supporting characters. I believe they are the foundation of the principal parts. So here’s my problem with this story – the supporting characters. With the exception of Ember’s dad and uncle, the rest were just mediocre. This is one of those books I really wanted to like. And I did to a point. I thought the storyline was new and refreshing. The twist at the end was unique. The author did a really cool job interlinking both characters’ pasts – and that was the best part of the book. The dialogue is OK – but I need a true dialogue drive story to be satisfied with any book! Without great conversations – a book is just “OK.” I’m giving three hearts since I got my HEA, and I may just read this one again one day and revisit this review!
