BARED TO YOU by Sylvia Day

Bared to You brings us yet another billionaire – Gideon Cross, who falls for socialite Eva Tramel.  Eva has had a tough past at the hands of a step-brother and over-protective mother. This is the story many are saying is a Fifty Shades knock-off, and I completely disagree! Many believe that a likeness to Christian Grey developed once Ms. Day introduced us to Gideon Cross, and it is hard not to make the comparison. Gideon is mysterious, secretive and a bit unreadable which helps develop his and Eva’s story. The difference between the Crossfire series and Fifty Shades, is Eva has a backbone, a strong family presence, and is a career woman from the beginning. Without a doubt, Gideon and Eva’s relationship is dysfunctional to say the least, but the story also delivers the perfect combination of sexual tension and passion. Bared to You has good details, the characters have some depth, and the minor storyline moves quickly. I like that Gideon did not play games – and was upfront about what he wanted from Eva, but hated all the running away from each other! I believe at times, there was almost too much conflict. The sex scene at his parents’ home (the garden party) was a bit of a turn-off. Overall what makes this book a little better than 50 Shades is the development of the secondary characters. I love Carey and want more of him! I also am interested in Eva’s boss and his partner. Overall, it was a quick read, and created enough interest to wait for the second book.
