When we last saw Jack and Cassie, he had shown up at Cassie’s door with a dozen roses and wearing a Mets jersey. The Game Changer picks up at that point. Cassie wants to hear the entire story of how he ended up there – and just why he’s wearing a Mets jersey. In first few chapters Jack tells his story, exactly what took him so long to get back to her. Their reunion is sweet and sassy. But they still both have issues that they need to resolve…Jack’s anger sometimes gets the best of him, Cassie’s vulnerability makes her question everyone’s motives, and world of major league baseball is a cruel, cruel world. In the end, their relationship will survive it all. With the exception of Gran and Grammps, the secondary characters were not as rich, and I found myself skimming over their words. All the quarters that Jack loves to use to win Cassie over make a triumphant return as well.Overall, it was a quick read with a happy ending, and Jack Carter is just one of those boys … that are just better in books!!
